[alert-warning] iOS 7 beta 3 (11a4414e) will expire on Thursday August 29, 2013 @ 12AM (GMT) [/alert-warning]

After testing, b3 is smoother than to beta 2, less memory usage for system operation, the  fluency has greatly improved. I think iPhone 4 users can rest assured attempts to upgrade.

Hi, I installed beta 2 on my iphone 4 already, is that ok for OTA update? Or I have to download beta 3 ipsw and do all over again?
    Thanks

    • 08/07/2013 at pm 7:32

OTA update is safe for non-developers without a UDID, and you do not need to restore a new iOS 7 beta 3 firmware, you can directly click on the ‘Update’ button in the OTA panel for upgrading.

When will there be a ipsw download?

  • john
    09/07/2013 at pm 12:36

I’ve downloaded the file and it is already ipsw. should I just install it with no extraction? (with alt+restore on mac)
because it says error 3014 when I try it.

    • 09/07/2013 at pm 1:51

To fix iTunes Error 3014, just add the following line to HOSTS file
(Click Go, then Go to folder, then type /etc Open the hosts file using TextEdit) :

      74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

can you help me to install it from 0? I’m going to update my phone to newest firmware 6. something, then what? already downloaded the .dmg file from above and mobile device package, i am using mac, thanks!

    • 10/07/2013 at pm 5:56

Setp 1: Please back up your personal data using iTunes or iCloud, then upgrade your device to the latest iOS 6.1.4 (iPhone 5) or 6.1.3 (iPhone 4S and other devices) you can upgrade the iPhone via OTA: Settings – > General -> Software Update. well if you have downloaded the 6.1.x firmware, connect your device with iTunes, then hold down the Alt / Option (Mac) key and hit the Restore button on iTunes to restore your iPhone to the latest iOS 6.x, this is ready for upgrading iOS 7 from a clean firmware to ensure no errors during next upgrade.

Step 2: Open the .dmg file and find the .ipsw file. It should be the only one there in your download file of iOS 7, so it is impossible to miss.

Step 3: Once your iPhone is the latest 6.X firmware, download the 7.0 firmware, and then connect the device to iTunes, hold down the Alt / Option (Mac) key and hit the Update button on iTunes to select the downloaded ipsw file for updating.

i hit the alt/option key and found the firmware. iTunes says it is extracting the software but then it says “an unknown error occurred (-1)” What do i do about this?

        • 12/07/2013 at am 2:48

Please restore your device to iOS 6.1.4 (iPhone 5), 6.1.3 (other devices) in DFU MODE first, then update to iOS 7 beta 3.

Does my iphone 4 have to be jailbroken to download ios7?

    • 11/07/2013 at am 1:26

Please update iPhone 4 to 6.1.3 first, then upgrade to 7 beta 3, this will lose your jailbreak, Note that, save your data before upgrading

First download the iOS 7 beta 3 Firmware for iPhone 5 GSM, then connect your device with iTunes. Next put your iPhone into DFU, then hit Shift (Windows) or Alt / Option (Mac) key and the Update button to update iPhone 5. Note that this will lose your personal data, please make a backup first.

umm, i’m keep having error 3194, is there anything that i missed?

    • 14/07/2013 at am 6:38

      How to fix Error 3194

Mac OS X click the Go -> Go to Folder menu in the Finder.

Go to the folder /etc and copy the file ‘hosts’ to your desktop.

      2. Edit the file with TextEdit and delete these lines (if they are present) from the end of the file:

      74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
      127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

      3. Save the modified hosts file, then drag it into the /etc folder and overwrite the old file.

Windows users will find the hosts file in C:WindowsSystem32driversetc and can open the file using Notepad. To edit the hosts file, Notepad must be run with Administrator Privileges. Right-click the Notepad icon and select Administrator Privileges to run in this mode. Remove these lines (if they are present) from the end of the file and save:

      74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
      127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

      4. Now try restoring again from the beginning. iTunes error 3194 should not reappear during the process.

yes..the one that require password. Thanks!

        • 17/07/2013 at am 7:19

Oh, no, these dmg firmwares all downloaded from Apple’s official. You are Mac users? If it is, the password should be your Mac administrator password, not a password we set. If not, Windows users can use 7-zip or DMGExtractor to extract an ipsw file.

Try using your Mac user password!

Mine is model A1429 i did it but at last msg pops up saying the firmware is not compatible please do help

    • 18/07/2013 at am 4:52

If you just tap the Update button in iTunes, it will prompt this firmware is not compatible, because Apple has not yet officially release iOS 7, it is only a beta. So you need to hold down the Shift + Update button to operate, please try again. If iTunes still prompts compatibility issue, you may download a wrong firmware, try using the Model 1428 firmware.

I have installed another one please tell me how to mount that dmg file and all please reply asap!!

        • 18/07/2013 at am 5:47

          1. Extract a ipsw file from the dmg you downloaded. (Windows user need to use 7-zip or DMGExtractor to open a dmg file)

          2. Connect your phone to iTunes, then hold down the Shift (Windows) or Alt / Option (Mac) key + Update button to install the new iOS 7 ipsw you just extracted.

Note: Before doing this, make sure that your iPhone 5 is running 6.1.4 firmware.

Beta 1 will expire on July 24, but now, you can not upgrade directly to b3 from beta 1 in the OTA Panel. You can download a complete beta 3 firmware and update it from iTunes, keep in mind using the Update button. Good luck!

I’m trying to load iOS7 onto my iPhone 5 from iTunes on a mac. I’ve done the update now it says “Waiting for iPhone” on iTunes and my iPhone now has a solid apple (iOS7 apple) and a rectangle loading bar beneath it but its not loading – its just freezing on that screen. I’ve tried a couple of times to put it back into recovery mode and try again and also restarted my computer a few times – still no luck. Sorry for being a n00b. I’m not normally like this I swear..

    • 19/07/2013 at am 11:20

This error may be due to you directly upgrade iOS 7 from 6.1.2, we have repeatedly stressed that upgrade iOS 7 is best based on the latest official firmware, such as the iPhone 5 6.1.4, iPhone 4S and other devices on 6.1.3. So now you can only restore the device to the latest firmware 6.x first, and then update iOS 7.

Hi when I tried my firmware was 6.1.4 on iPhone 5 and iTunes was 11.0.4 so no problems there. I’ll try a different USB port and get back to you.

Cool stuff. Updated mine to Beta 3 just now. Just a question though, if Beta 4 comes out, next week as assumed, will I need to revert back to 6.1.4 to have it installed? I do not have a dev UIDD by the way. Or would the OTA work as well to those who are not developers? Thanks.

Okay, so I can’t restore from my previous backup, and now it won’t charge as well. My cable’s authentic and the lightning symbol shows, but the percent is not increasing. Why is it like this?

    • 26/07/2013 at am 2:07

I never encountered such a problem, but I searched and found the beta 3 exists such a charge BUG, you can try to change a USB port for charging, or restore the factory settings.

048-7257-001.dmgHi Guys, I have downloaded the ios 7 beta version for iPhone 5 (Model A1429) {US CDMA & Rest of the world GSM}. I have extracted the file and it has 3 DMG files. As per the guide I have downloaded the DMG extractor and followed the instructions, but when I tried to open 2 DMG files it says it invalid and one file is requesting for encryption password.

    • 26/07/2013 at am 8:38

Please check whether you have downloaded a complete DMG Firmware, no password

      • Geezee
        26/07/2013 at am 8:55

Hi, Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes I have downloaded the entire file which is 1.09 GB. Please see screen shot attached:

        • 26/07/2013 at am 9:51

omg, this is already a ipsw format, please do not extract it, you can already use it directly on iTunes

          • Geezee
            26/07/2013 at am 9:57

LOL, Which file are you speaking about? Is it the one which is highlighted in the screenshot? The file extension says its DMG, do I manually change it to ipsw?

          • 26/07/2013 at am 10:01

Can you send me the file suffix screenshot that you have downloaded

          • Geezee
            26/07/2013 at am 10:05

I downloaded iPhone5.2_7.0_11A4414e_Restore which is a zip file and when I extracted I got the files shown in my previous screenshoot

          • 26/07/2013 at am 10:10

You must not enable the suffix View in Windows, so you can not see if it is a DMG file, right click the file to view its properties you will see it is indeed a ipsw file, please directly use it with iTunes, I have explained very clear.

          • Geezee
            26/07/2013 at am 10:43

            Hi Mate,

Thanks. showing or hiding extensions still showed as a compressed Zip file. I clicked on show extensions and manually changed it to ipsw. Now get a error message the device is not registered of the iphone developer program. If you are a member of the program please register the device in the @@url@@

          • 26/07/2013 at am 11:04

          • 26/07/2013 at pm 12:25

Enable all options of iCloud on your new iOS 7, they will automatically sync, or manually restore from iTunes

          • Geezee
            26/07/2013 at pm 1:21

I have already done that but for some reason it not showing my earlier backup. However when I go into the icloud account settings I can see the my previous backup which is like 2.8 GB

          • 26/07/2013 at pm 2:06

iCloud restore is not executed immediately, it takes time.

          • 26/07/2013 at am 10:04

This whole file is a complete ipsw firmware, without extracting again

    • 31/07/2013 at am 2:34

iTunes can’t restore these backups because the device has a lower iOS than the backup firmware. You can try program called Backuptrans iTunes Backup Extractor. It lets you open the backup files and restore data back to your device. Restoring from iOS 7 Backup to iOS 6 is supported.

Hi, my iPhone 4 is not jailbroken and not registered as developer. I downloaded the ipsw and when hit Update on iTunes (with Alt press) it extracts the update but then is says it cannot because “This device isn’t eligible for the requested build.” Any clues on how to solve this? I also installed the MobileDevice, but I cannot find it anywhere or know what to do with it.
