How to Install Veency as a VNC Server on Your Jailbroken iPhone or iPad

Have you ever wanted access to your iOS device from across the room? You may want to cue up other music, find your phone, or even stream to another device. With a jailbroken device, you can do this by installing a VNC server. What’s a VNC server? It is basically a program that shares a desktop with other computers over the Internet. You will need a VNC server if you want other people to see your desktop.

If you have a jailbroken Apple device, you can install Veency as your VNC server. Veency is free and allows you to connect to your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch from Mac or from your PC. You can then control your device remotely, interact with all the apps on your device, send text messages, set alarms, check for missed calls and perform many other functions.

In order to install Veency, you should take the following steps. First, make sure you have a jailbroken device. Veency has been updated and fully supports iOS 9. You also need to have Springboard installed on your device.

Second, search for Veency in Cydia, then choose it from the search results.

Third, tap the “Install” button to begin the process. Then Cydia will ask you to restart Springboard.

Four, restart Springboard.

Five, go to your iOS Settings app and swipe down until you find Veency. Tap the Veency icon, which will then show you some of the settings.

Six, examine the available settings. If you need to change or test you the settings, go ahead and do so.

Seven, you then must enable a VNC password. Setting a password will prevent others from connecting to your device by using your VNC without your express permission. When a computer wants to connect to your device, you’ll receive a notification asking if you want to accept it.

Eight, it’s time to check that everything is working properly. To do this, connect to your device’s IP address. It usually also has a Zeroconf (Bonjour) network name. For example, if your iPhone is named Billyphone, the Zeroconf name is Billyphone.local.

If for any reason you can’t find the network, go to the Settings app. Then choose the Wi-Fi setting and it will reveal your local IP address.

Nine, for those of you who are on a Mac, go to Finder and press Command+K to connect to a server. Enter in vnc:// and then enter your IP address (or Zeroconf name). Then press Connect.

Alternatively, if you have a machine that runs Windows or Linux, just use the VNC client of your choice and connect to your iOS device in the same way you would connect any other VNC server.

This should successfully complete the installation of Veency on your device. Remember, one benefit of this tweak is that it will allow you to mirror the screen from your iPhone to a VNC viewer on your iPad. If you connect in “view only” mode this will open up a whole range of streaming possibilities.
