Following the PwnageTool, RedSn0w, Sn0wBreeze later, iOS added a new jailbreak tool Ac1dSn0w. This tool is not developed by well-known iPhone Dev Team, or the Chronic Dev Team, but by a hacker named Pwn Dev Team released. Ac1dSn0w is an alternate to jailbreak tools likeRedSn0w and PwnageTool.
However, Ac1dSn0w can still provide only tethered jailbreak for iOS 5/5.0.1. Moreover, this tool only supports OS X Snow Leopard or Lion. In Pwn Dev Team’s official blog, the hackers said Ac1dSn0w not add any new features compared with the previous jailbreak tool, iPhone 3GS / 4, iPod touch 4 and the first generation iPad can be jailbreak by Ac1dSn0w. iPad 2 and iPhone 4S equipped with A5 chip is not in the jailbreak list.
Ac1dSn0w beta 1 was recently released and criticized for including copyright Apple code. However, the author fixed those legal issues in new version.
The Pwn Dev Team releases an update to their jailbreak tool - Ac1dSn0w b2, to fix legal issues, ramdisk issues and boot logo removal. Ac1dSn0w Beta 2 is now available for download.
Fixes in Beta 2:
