iOS 7 beta 3 Officially Released for Developers

Today, Apple released the third beta for developers as scheduled, now the registered developers can directly download iOS 7 beta 3 (bulit 11a4414e) for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, If you has installed beta 2 on your device, then you can directly update 3 via OTA (Just launch the Settings app and navigate to General -> Software Update to update) The OTA update is safe for non-developers without a UDID using the ‘update’ trick.

No matter if you have a registered UDID,  you can upgrade to beta 3 anytime from 6.1.X as long as you want, just need to download the iOS 7 beta 3 ipsw file from the links below, then click on “update” Button in iTunes to install the ipsw file. Hold down the Shift (Windows) or Alt/Option (Mac) key and hit the Update button on iTunes.

Of course, if you are a real developer, you can upgrade beta 3 with Xcode 5 Developer Preview 3, which Apple just released.

Option 1: Developers can directly download the beta 3 ipsw file in iOS Dev Center. (Note you need to be a registered developer)

Option 2: For those people without a developer UDID, please download the iOS 7 beta 3 ipsw & dmg files from Mega. The download links posted below.

Please note that Mac users need to install the “Mobile Device Installer Package” for installing.

After testing, b3 is smoother than to beta 2, less memory usage for system operation, the  fluency has greatly improved. I think iPhone 4 users can rest assured attempts to upgrade.

How To Convert iOS 7 Beta  2 DMG to IPSW

Method 2: 7-zip on Windows

The Windows customers will need to find 7-Zip program to convert a dmg file to ipsw format.

  1. Launch 7-Zip.exe.
  2. Select File and click Open.
  3. Find out the DMG file of iOS 7 Beta and click to open it. You’ll see all kind of files in this archive.
  4. Then Find the IPSW file within the DMG file and click to Extract.
  5. Just point out the 7-Zip program to where you would like your IPSW file to be stored.

For some user feedback that iTunes prompts the iOS 7 firmware is not compatible & Activation error, which may be due to you not operate strictly accordance with the upgrade tutorial or downloaded a wrong firmware which not correspond with your device model. [/alert-warning]

Make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS 6.1.4 (Other devices on iOS 6.1.3) before upgrading

Please click Update button on iTunes, if you click Restore, iTunes will prompt incompatible

#Update: Apple is likely to release the iOS 7 beta 4 soon. By then, b3 users can directly upgrade to iOS 7 beta 4 via OTA update panel, no need to download the full beta 4 firmware. Of course, we will promptly release iOS 7 beta 4 ipsw download links for non-developers on iOS 6.

    I’m on ios 6.1.4 and I read that if I try upgrading directly to beta 5 it wouldn’t work because apple closed the gap on beta 4 so I tried installing beta 3 and it won’t work I keep getting error 3194 I tried deleting editing the hosts and it’s still won’t work any help?
